PROJECT PROFILE

The Hlalanathi Housing development is a large scale housing initiative to assist local workers and families in the IDZ vicinity, eliminating the cost of commuting and providing affordable, secure and quality housing for all.

The site is located about 10km from East London CBD and about 2km from the East London Airport. The site is within BCM’s industrial area and is surrounded by the residential areas of West Bank, Sunnyridge and Greenfields. Access to the site is from the tarred road network connecting to the IDZ, branching off from the R72 which links East London and Port Elizabeth.

Manufacturing hubs, public schools (primary and secondary), medical suites, police stations and public transport are available immediately beyond the development. the main public health facility is within 10 kilometers of the site.

Type A Block

 

Type A Block consists of 3 two bedroom apartments of 43sqm per floor. The block is three floors high.

Type B Block

 

Type B Block consists of 4 two bedroom apartments of 38sqm per floor. The block is three floors high.

Type C Block

 

Type C Block consists of 2 two bedroom apartments of 40sqm per floor AND 2 bachelor flats of 30sqm per floor. The block is three floors high.

 

Type C1 Block

Type C1 Block consists of 2 two bedroom apartments of 40sqm per floor AND 1 two bedroom apartment of 43sqm per floor. The block is three floors high.

Type D Block

 

Type D Block consists of 2 one bedroom apartments of 32sqm per floor AND 1 two bedroom apartment of 38sqm per floor AND one 30sqm bachelor flat on the 1st and 2nd floor. The block is three floors high.

Type E Block

 

Type E Block consists of 4 one bedroom apartments of 32sqm per floor AND 1 two bedroom apartment of 43sqm per floor. The block is three floors high.

AMENITIES

  • Each housing unit will be provided with a post box at the ground floor level adjacent to the stairs.
  • Child play areas, swings, slides and eating areas will be available in the open courtyard spaces facilitated by the layout of the development.
  • Hlalanathi Housing Association offices will be available on site with complex management on site during working hours. 

  • Each of the 603 units will be furnished with a prepaid electricity meter and a water meter for easy management of the facility.

  • A security guard/gatehouse for search and access control to development will be built. Boom gates are to be installed to control vehicular access to development.

  • Walled secure washing lines will be provided to each block.
